Lead 1: Earthquake

No injuries or damage is reported after a 2.2 magnitude earthquake quietly rattled the Alum Rock foothills ( nine miles northeast of San Jose City Hall) at 8:33 a.m. says U.S. Geological Survey.

    Good, except for a redundancy and an AP style error:
    It's 8:33 a.m., not AM (and "this morning" is not needed.

    You got things in the right order, and I like "quietly rattled," but make it a lowercase "nine."
